Album Info:Here are several original photos that I took of Berwind-White, Pennsylvania Railroad, Amtrak, and Metro-North locomotives that eventually became museum exhibits, excursion line motive power, and/or revenue service power.

Description:  Museum Bound. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 17 August 1961. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #7128, #7170, and three others that are not visible. All five are EFS-17M's built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. They are pulling a 50-car eastbound TrucTrain around the Horseshoe Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. Wave to the head-end brakeman in the second unit! As of 04 July 2016, or 55 years later, #7128 ~ now numbered "7580" ~ is in active excursion service with Steam Into History at New Freedom, Pennsylvania.

It is pulling a southbound passenger train to Washington, DC. #4913 is now on exhibit at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #4887 and #4913. Both are GG-1's built in Altoona: #4887 was built during April of 1939, but #4913 was built during January of 1942. They are arriving with southbound passenger train #121, the "Congressional." The time is 12:26. #4913 is now on exhibit at the Railroaders Memorial Museum in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #2249, #2229, and #2206. All are EF-22's built by EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. They are pulling a 160-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with caboose #477243. This photo was taken at the Route 483 Bridge. Up to October of 2010, at least, #2249 was in active excursion service with the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in Cumberland, Maryland, as number "501."

They are pulling a 160-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with caboose #477243. This photo was taken at the Route 483 Bridge. Up to March of 2014, at least, #2206 was in active revenue service: first as Palouse River and Coulee City Railroad's "3004" in Walla Walla, Washington; later as Webb Asset Management Company's "3023" in Wallula, Washington.

As of October 2014, #2350 was in active revenue service as Metro-North Commuter Railroad's number "104."

They are pulling a 128-car eastbound mixed-cargo freight train with N-8 caboose #478125. Wave to the engineer! As of 04 July 2016, or 51 years later, #2250 ~ now numbered "2198" ~ is in active excursion service with the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad in New Hope, Pennsylvania.

Description:  Museum Bound. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad equipment in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 18 September 1965. Shown here is a front-quarter view of PRR #4666, a J.G. Brill Gas-Electric Model 660 "Doodlebug" built in 1930. It had been retired from active service on the PRR and was awaiting final disposition in the Hollidaysburg Yards. Eventually, it was reconditioned for excursion service ~ including the Arcade & Attica Railroad, the Penn View Mountain Railroad, the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad, as well as the Black River & Western Railroad. As of 02 July 2016, it belongs to the Allentown & Auburn Railroad in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.

Description:  Museum Bound. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train near Union Furnace, Pennsylvania, on 16 April 1966. Shown here is PRR engine #5809 and two other units whose numbers are not visible. #5809 is an EP-22 built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound mail/express train. This photo was taken where the tracks bridge the Little Juniata River west of the stone quarry crossing, just off of State Route 453. In later years, #5809 was reconditioned in 1975 and placed in active excursion service ~ first with the Juniata Terminal, later with Mr. Bennett Levin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
