Description:  Here is an original photo of the massive 2-8-8-0 "Consolidation Mallet" built by Baldwin in 1917 for the B&O. They were bound for the hilly Cumberland Division. Specs - class EL-3, 58" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 24x32" cylinders, engine weight of 484,400 lb, impressive tractive effort of 113,452 lb. No photographer and no exact location were listed.

Original specs - class EL-2, 58" drivers, 210 psi boiler pressure, 26x31" high pressure clyinders, 41x31" low pressure cylinders, engine weight of 485,600 lb, impressive tractive effort of 91,993 lb. Starting in 1930, a few class EL-2's were converted to 4 cylinder simple-expansion to improve pulling power.
