EBT Doodlebug M-1 - East Broad Top |
Description: |
According to the EBT roster page, "In 1926, EBT shop employees began assembly of a motorcar kit supplied by J. G. Brill and Westinghouse. Construction and testing was finished in 1927. Today, M-1 is a one-of-a-kind piece of railroad equipment. Nowhere else can you ride an original 3 foot gauge gas-electric motorcar on its original right-of-way with all original components. M-1 has never been restored but has had great care over the years and thus retains its historic charm. Specs: Brill, 6 cylinder, 1980 cubic inch displacement, aluminum block, 400 to 1100 rpm." An unknown photographer took this color slide. |

EBT 14 - East Broad Top |
Description: |
EBT combinaton car #14 was possibly built by Gilbert Bush & Co some time in the 1880's. It was purchased by the East Broad Top in 1916 from the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad in Massachusetts, where it was configured as a smoker coach. The EBT converted the car into a combination car, with part of the car seating passengers and part accommodating baggage and freight. It eventually was used as a tourist train car but pulled from active service for restoration in the mid-2000's. As of 2020, it still has a few more years of restoration to go. Does anyone know if it has been completed yet? Jim Lockart slide |
