Title:
East Altoona Ready Tracks, 1965
Description:
17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 July 1965. Shown here are the Locomotive Ready Tracks below the 17th Street Bridge; many makes and models are represented. Of the 40 or so locomotives visible, the following are identifiable by number. Starting from the right are PRR engines #7118, #7124, #9662, #6302, and #6308. #7118 and #7124 are EFS-17M's built by EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #9662 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #6302 and #6308 are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each.
