Description:  One of my favorite photo spots was along NY 17C about two miles east of Waverly, where this down on shot showed not only the train, but the expanse of the valley as well. Train 891 adds to the scenery on this June evening. Note the D&H lettering on the 4th head car. These cars were on their last legs by this time. Also, note the semaphore on track 2 at far left. This was one of the last ones to go.

Description:  I was able to catch up to this 891 after the shot from NY 17C, as he was slowing for the signal at Waverly to meet an eastbound. At speed, cathing a train here after getting him at the previous location was impossible.

Description:  The trains, not the ppwer, though this train has a homebuilt B unit. On slower freight days, some trains would be combined, usually the intermodals with the carload trains, such as this combined 553/270, carrying 57 cars of intermodal for Montreal and a 23 car block for Guilford at Mechanicville.

Description:  CP instituted train 500 as a through train between SOO in Chicago and Montqeal. It was notable for keeping the SOO power all the way through, and thus was easy tl spot. We see it rolling through Dorval, almost to the end of the trip.
