After retirement by Soo this GP40 becase NREX 2002 then was purchased by KCS and renumbered 4736 for a soon to be launched GP40-3 rebuild program. Since this photo KCS 4736 is now off the roster, current disposition unknlwn. |

Built new as CB&Q 183, merged into BN as 3013, then sold to NHL. After NHL, she was sold to KCS for rebuilding into a GP40-3. Here she is working unrebuilt and in BN paint on a KCS work train in Dallas. I wish I could find the photo I took of the car trailing this diesel. |

Delivered to Baltimore & Ohio as GP40 4006 in August 1971 becoming B&O 6581 in 1986 then CSX 6581 in 1987. On January 13, 1993 CSX retired this GP40 and sold it to National Railway Equipment on March 10, 1993 then sold to KCS for rebuilding into the GP40-3 program. Reportedly this unit was rebuilt by VMV in June 1994 but in this photo 4746 has yet to be rebuilt or repainted, this unit would later be renumbered 2852 and remains active on the KCS roster as of 2014. |

A CSX yard job has delivered the train for KCS No. 54 to the NS at L&N Junction. An NS yard job will take the train across the New Orleans Terminal and deliver it to the KCS at Labarre Road. Power is KCS SD40-2 680, KCS GP40 4748, KCS SD40-2 669. The 4748 had recently been renumbered from 748 so that its old number could be used on a new SD60. |
