Both are EP-20's built by EMD in 1949 and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. They are about to stop at the Altoona Station with a nine-car passenger train on its way to Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and New York City. On the left (L to R) are PRR engines #8608 and #8607. Both are APS-24MS's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1955 and rated at 2,400 horsepower each. They are returning to Altoona after making a helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and back. This photo taken adjacent to ALTO Tower.
