PRR 8667, AS-18AM, 1963
Title:  PRR 8667, AS-18AM, 1963
Description:  Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 August 1963. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8667, #8675, and #8658. All are AS-18AM road switchers built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8667 was built in February of 1958, #8675 was completed one month later, while #8658 was constructed in January of the same year. They're serving as tail-end pushers on an ore train rounding the Curve on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they'll uncouple and return to East Altoona for yet another helper-pusher run up "The Mountain."
