Partial Caption: "A rather interesting picture showing the locomotive at Manhattan Transfer, N.J., in 1910 ~ the year Pennsylvania Station in New York was opened." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1017, a D-16A (4-4-0) "American" built in Juniata as a D-16 in 1895, rebuilt as a D-16A in September of 1897, renumbered "01017" in 1917, and retired in January of 1919 after 22 years of faithful service. |
