UP #8778 was one of two locomotives to have red markers that were used during an experimental project around 2016 where #8778 & #8777 were converted to run off of liquid natural gas that was fed from UP natural gas tender #101. The units were converted back to run off of diesel, but retained the red markers. More info on the markers would be appreciated. Were they lights, or reflectors? Were they ever illuminated? Why did they need these? |
