AT&SF SD45-2 5704
AT&SF SD45-2 5704, location, photographer, and exact date unknown, Chuck Zeiler collection. The Kodak Kodachrome slide mount is stamped JAN 76C8, and to me it LOOKS like Corwith Yard. Number 5704 was built in May 1973 (c/n 72642-18) one of five SD45-2's painted in the Bicentennial paint scheme (#'s 5700-5704). The trailing unit has a gold-trimmed medallion with an eagle behind the cab (I believe it was the Great Seal of the United States), this unit has sheet metal in place for the eagle medallion, but it is painted at the time of this photo. Later photos show an eagle in this location. According to http://rosters.gcrossett.com/atsf/ this unit received bi-centennial paint at San Bernardino sometime between January 6-13, 1976, and was repainted back to standard AT&SF blue June 15, 1978. It was rebuilt at San Bernardino to SD45-2u 5834, outshopped during September 1986, and became BNSF 6484 on January 21, 2000. The trailing unit is 5701 built in May 1973 (c/n 72642-15), delivered in blue warbonnet, repainted bi-centennial around March 1975, repainted back to blue April 19, 1977, becoming BNSF 7508 January 19, 2000, and renumbered to BNSF 6523 during December 2006.
