The Richmond Shipyard Railway was operated by the Key System during World War II using these ancient New York transit cars brougth and paid for by the United States Maritime Commission to shuttle workers to the Kaiser Shipyards in Richmond. The cars were originally pulled by steam locomotives on elevated lines in New York until they were electrified 1901-1903 There are only two left in existance both of which are at the Western Railway Museum. |
