| ATSF SD45 5305. Looks like 5305 is heading down to the San Bernardino shops for some repair work. In 1980, this unit was renumbered into 5305 as one of four control units remanufactured at San Bernardino with air conditioners installed, rotary beacons addedto the roof, as well as avariety of other sysatem upgrades. It was used as a control group against two other groups of four SD45's, one group with 16 cylinder EMD 645 prime movers, the other group with Swiss made Sulzer prime movers. Santa Fe in many regards used the SD45's as test beds. |
