This looks like PRR #4559 has been literally put out to pasture! The unknown photographer wrote on the back, "Heavy Decapod 4559 awaits service. She's being stored."

Alan Fricker General I'd bet it never went back in service at this late date. 8/20/2013 8:34:43 PM
Stu Nicholson General The Pennsy stored nearly all of it's Columbus-based locomotives at the old 20th Street yards near the roundhouse in East Columbus. 8/20/2013 9:35:16 PM

Eric Reinert General Seems odd that they would have her stored in Columbus out of service. In Summer 1956 the PRR leased a group of ATSF 2-10-4's for use up to Sandusky because of a "motive power shortage"... Unless this Hippo was due for heavy Class repairs or something. 8/21/2013 4:45:55 PM
