Standing ready to roll just west of the curving station at Staunton, VA, is this Alco Consolidation. Built between 1903-07 along with 206 sister locomotives, this G-7 class was the largest single class to serve the C&O, especially during the war years of heavy traffic. All were retired by 1953. The day in 1945 is approximate. Tony Kozla photo |
