Kansas City Southern GP40-2LW units 4700, 4712 and 4717 were on the interchange track connecting the railroad’s MERIDIAN SPEEDWAY – just behind the photographer – and the branch line to Hodge, Louisiana. This branch had been the North Louisiana & Gulf and then the Central Louisiana & Gulf, and it would be leased by Watco as the Louisiana Southern three months after this photo. On the left was Louisiana & North West GP11 55, while GP40 57 and GP35 54 were in the L&NW diesel shop; and the building on the right was the former NL&G freight house. |
