| This once mighty 4-8-2 Mountain-type steam locomotive has now been relegated to the storage/scrap line at Stratford, Ontario. Built by Canadian Locomotive Works in July of 1924 (serial #1756, class U-1-b), it served until retirement. It met the scrapper's torch in January of 1959, about 5 months after this photo was taken by H.L. Goldsmith. Probably one of the very last photos of it ever taken. |
