Sadly, it looks like Great Northern 4-8-0 twelve wheeler or "Mastodon" type steam locomotive has reached the scrap line in St Paul, MN. Built by the Brooks Locomotive Works in Dunkirk, NY (pre-ALCO merger) in 1891, the G-1 class it was in lasted until the late 1920's in service to the Great Northern. Specs - serial #1973, class 38/G-1, 55" drivers, 160 psi boiler pressure, 20x24" cylinders, engine weight of 156,000 lb, tractive effort of 23,738 lb.
