PRR 4585, I-1SA, c. 1957
Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken at the Turntable located just East of the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4585, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during September of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in April of 1941, and retired in January of 1957 after 34 years of service. It's just been turned around and is now facing westward, ready for its next assignment.
