PRR Erecting & Machine Shop, #10 of 10, c. 1953
Here is the tenth of ten original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Shown here is a portion of the storage yard at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop. Prominent here is PRR engine #3646, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during April of 1916 and retired in February of 1954 after 38 years of faithful service. It's a sad, sad sight!
