PRR Coaling Tipple, #1 of 2, c. 1980
Hagerstown. Here is an image of the first of two successive photos that were taken near Hagerstown, Maryland. In the background is the now-abandoned steam-era coaling tipple belonging to the Pennsylvania Railroad. In front of it is an orphaned PRR "coast-to-coast" steam locomotive tender that appears to have been converted into an oil tanker. The names of the photographer and of the person in the foreground, as well as the exact date, are not recorded. Edward Kaspriske Collection.
