Train display in Humbermouth
I know I'm nuts about our diesels, but this my friends, is the crown jewel herself. Baldwin Pacific 4-6-2, CN#593(nee-Nfld rr#193) was built in Philly in 1921. She operated until 1959, where she retired as a shunter in P.A.B. She survived the cutter's torch and was placed on display at a campground, 17 miles west of here. The Rotary club of Corner Brook, who were the owners, donated the loco to The Railway Society of Nfld. in 1987 where she was shipped up here. A bigger dream than seeing a railway on the island again, would be to see this single survivor breathe steam once more.

Doug Billard General I climbed all over this thing many times as a kid when it was on display at the old Bowater South Brook Park back in the 70's. It was in rough shape back then, great to see it restored. 4/6/2016 12:36:30 AM
