Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken at Sunnyside Yard in Long Island City, New York, in July of 1967. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3937 and #3936. Both are DD-1 (2-B+B-2) electrics built in Juniata during May of 1911, rated at 4,000 horsepower total, and presently on display at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. In this context, they're utilized only for maintenance in the East and Hudson River Tunnels. |
