Still looking sharp in this July 1954 photo, MILW 2-8-2 Mikado #516 was originally built in October of 1920 as MILW #8216. It was renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 519. The loco served until being retired once on 7/21/1950. Due to a need for power, it was re-instated on 8/30/1950. The loco faced its second and final retirement leading to scrapping in December of 1954. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed. |
