| Michael A Tedesco caught this interesting carbody BL2 sitting in the Hagerstown, MD yard. Built by EMD in December of 1948, this EMD model was lighter in weight than other switchers so it was advertised as a "branch line" switcher, hence its model name "BL". Unfortunately it ultimately was the "Edsel" of the EMD ffor its car body styling and poor visibility. The 1500 hp unit was renumbered in the Chessie roster as WM 7181. |
