ATSF 8777 |
Description: |
ENID OK Sept 4 1978 -- Santa Fe U36C 8777 leads First QLA through Enid. The train is traveling west on Frisco tracks to Avard OK where it will move onto the Santa Fes Transcon to continue its journey to Los Angeles. GE built the 8777 in December 1974. In June 1986 it was rebuilt as an SF30C in the Cleburne TX shops, renumbered 9549 and painted into SPSF colors. After the SP-SF merger failed it was returned to Santa Fe paint sometime before Jan 1 1991. It was laid up pending disposition in Topeka KS, retired and sold to Livingston Rebuild Center Inc on Aug 6 1997 where it became LRCX 9549. It found its way to Brazil where the Estrada de Ferro Vitoria a Minas rostered it as EFVM 9549. It was scrapped in September 2008. (Roster information from atsfrr.net and thedieselshop.us) |
