Description:  Price. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken near Enola, Pennsylvania, on 28 October 1954. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9785 and three other F-Class units whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each; #9785 was built in February of 1951. They have just departed Enola Yard with a mixed-cargo freight train on their way to Altoona and points West.

Description:  Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took at the State Route 53 Bridge near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, in November of 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9785, #9876-B, and #9652. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9785 is an EF-15A constructed in February of 1951. #9876-B is an EF-15A built in September of 1952. #9652 is an EF-15A constructed as an EH-15 in February of 1950, later regeared and reclassified as an EF-15A, and retired in November of 1966. The town of Gallitzin is discernable in the distance. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.)

Description:  Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took at the tunnels under Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1964. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9785, #9788, #7069, and #8843. #9785 and #9788 are EF-15A's built by EMD in February of 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #7069 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in October of 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #8843 is an AS-16MS built by the American Locomotive Company in December of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. In this context, they're emerging from the eastern portal of the New Portage Tunnel with a 108-car coal train on their way down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to the Eastbound Receiving Yard in Altoona. The N-8 cabin car is #478171.
