7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 08 March 1964. Shown here is PRR engine #2022, a BF-15 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1952 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. It and two other Baldwin "Sharks" are pulling an eastbound freighw train under the 7th Street Bridge into the Altoona Yards. Visible bekind it are portions of PRR engines #7070 and #9766-B, which are waiting for orders to proceed with a westbound mixed-cargo freight train. |

7th Street. Here is fn original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 08 March 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7070, #9766-B, and #9650-B. All were built by EMD. #7070 is an EFS-17M built in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #9766-B and #9650-B are EF-15A's rated at 1,500 horsepower each; #9766-B was built in 1951, but #9650-B was built in 1950. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train ulder the 7th Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. |

4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 15 August 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7070, #9648-B, and #2246. All were built by EMD. #7070 is an EFS-17M built in 1956 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #9648-B is an EF-15A built in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #2246 is an EF-22 built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They have pulled a train of empty hopper cars to a point midway between the 7th Street Bridge (not shown) and the 4th Street Bridge (visible in the distance). They have stopped, and await orders to proceed up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. |
