Here is page eight of a 15-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Modern Cars And Locomotives: 1926." Depicted here are PRR engines #6556, #3976-3977, and #3914-3915. All were built in Juniata. Engine #6556 is a C-1 (0-8-0) switcher built in May of 1925 and retired in January of 1949. Engines #3976-3977 are DD-1's (2-B+B-2) built in July of 1910 and rated at 3,160 horsepower; #3976 was transferred to the Long Island Rail Road in April of 1928 and renumbered "350-B," but #3977 was retired in January of 1949. Engines #3914-3915 are B-1 (C) electric switchers built in June of 1926 and rated at 570 horsepower each; #3914 was retired in December of 1962, while #3915 was retired in January of 1963.

Photo Caption: "Manhattan Transfer when it was new: DD-1 No. 12 arrives with an express that includes all-steel Pullman parlors behind the engine." #12 actually consists of #3956 and #3957. Here is page five of an 11-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "The Locomotive That Made Penn Station Possible." It was published originally in the October 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 32. Painting Caption: "The common meeting ground of K-4 Pacifics and DD-1 electrics was Manhattan Transfer, an engine-change point just east of Newark whose high-level platforms could be reached only by rail. Trains commissioned Artist George Gloff to re-create that era." Depicted here are PRR engines #5426 and #24. #5426 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during February of 1927 and retired in August of 1956. #24 actually consists of #3980 and #3981. Both are DD-1's (2-B+B-2) built in Juniata during July of 1910 and rated at 3,160 horsepower; both were later transferred to the Long Island Rail Road and renumbered: #3980 became "360-A" and #3981 became "356-B."

Saga Of The DD-1's, Page 33, 1956
Description:
Here is page six of an 11-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "The Locomotive That Made Penn Station Possible." It was published originally in the October 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 33. Painting Caption: "The common meeting ground of K-4 Pacifics and DD-1 electrics was Manhattan Transfer, an engine-change point just east of Newark whose high-level platforms could be reached only by rail. Trains commissioned Artist George Gloff to re-create that era." Depicted here is PRR engine #24, which actually consists of #3980 and #3981. Both are DD-1's (2-B+B-2) built in Juniata during July of 1910 and rated at 4,620 horsepower; both were later transferred to the Long Island Rail Road and renumbered: #3980 became "360-A" and #3981 became "356-B."

Both are DD-1's built in Juniata as NYT number "25" during July of 1910, rated at 1,580 horsepower each, and sold to the Long Island Rail Road in June of 1927.

PRR 3467, H-9S, c. 1949
Description:
Here is an original photo of a large number of Pennsylvania Railroad engines marshalled for movement to the scrap dock. Among them is #3467, an H-9S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during 1913 and retired in October of 1950. Partially visible at the far left is PRR engine #4717, a P-5A (2-C-2) electric built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in October of 1932 and retired in June of 1962.
